Hi, I'm Taylor Cromwell 👋
I’m fascinated by people who build things—from solo creators to startup founders. I’ve built my own career by telling their stories and helping them tell theirs.
Before launching my own consultancy, I was a social editor and journalist for publications like The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News. Today, I run Cromwell Creative, where I partner with startups, VCs, and tech companies to craft high-conversion content and founder-led thought leadership. My clients include HubSpot, beehiiv, and Viral Nation.
I also write and publish Creator Diaries, a media brand spotlighting the builders shaping the future of the creator economy. Through long-form essays and interviews, I explore how real people are turning ideas into revenue and the systems behind their success.
My mission is simple: to help the next generation of entrepreneurs build businesses — and lives — that they genuinely love.

Creator Diaries: Telling the Stories of Builders
Creator Diaries is my newsletter and creative lab, where I unpack real-world examples of creators who are thinking—and building—like entrepreneurs.
Loading...
Each week, I explore:
  • In-depth breakdowns of successful creator businesses, like the story behind Silicon Valley Girl’s media empire or Jenny Doan’s journey from YouTube to a $100M quilting company.
  • Frameworks from leading entrepreneurial thinkers, applied directly to the creator economy.
  • Transparent "build-in-public" updates from my own entrepreneurial journey, including what's working, what's not, and what I'm testing next.
Creator Diaries exists to prove that the path to a meaningful, profitable business doesn't have to be mysterious. It can be learned, shared, and replicated.

How to Turn Your Audience into Opportunity

P.S. This is the exact ladder I used to grow my own audience and turn it into a business. Step 1: Attract Give away value generously to build trust. Think newsletter, social media posts, etc. Step 2: Engage Turn readers into an engaged community. Think workshops, memberships, meetups, etc. Step 3: Convert Move from free to paid by clearly communicating how your offers solve real problems. This is about precision, persuasion, and authenticity. Step 4: Scale Finally, elevate your narrative and positioning to unlock higher-value partnerships, products, and strategic growth opportunities. Your audience isn’t just followers or subscribers — they’re your most valuable asset. I help you build a clear path from attention to impact, using my Audience-to-Opportunity Ladder. Whether you’re a founder, creator, or entrepreneur, my expertise in storytelling, content strategy, and brand-building helps you move beyond content—to creating a business you truly love. Ready to build your ladder? → Let’s talk.

About Me
The long, winding, extremely non-linear path to what I'm doing now.
2017 - 2019
A journalist career is born! My first job was at Bloomberg covering hard-hitting market updates for the consumer news team. (I didn't last last long)
I then went on to work with a documentary team called MAKERS for two years in NYC.
2019 - 2022
Spent three years at the Wall Street Journal as a social/digital editor. I learned SO much during my time there, about publishing, building digital audiences, and innovation.
I also learned that I could not (sanely) build a career covering politics.
2022
The beginning of my freelance journey!
I started with a contract job at LinkedIn — and while I loved the mission and working in the tech role, I realized that I had much a bigger mission and skillset than being a line worker in a very large organization.
2023
Officially launched my freelance business Cromwell Creative and went all in on building my own business.
However there was still a lot of meandering to do. In the absence of knowing who I wanted to help and what I wanted to do, I said yes to everything. (Classic rookie mistake)
2024
I start to somewhat figure out what I wanted to do.
I learned that I really love helping people build their own brands, businesses, and newsletters. I also started writing long form again and LOVED it.
2025
All the pieces start coming together. I get clear on wanting to cover the creator economy and work with companies helping people build their own business.
I launch my newsletter Creator Diaries to interview interesting builders and feel more energized than ever.
2026 & Beyond
I've got big aspirations now that I've laid the groundwork. I want to keep investing in my newsletter, curating my community, and building the future of the creator economy.
What I Believe
We’re in the middle of a major shift in how we think about work, success, and what it means to build something of your own. The rules are changing. And that’s a good thing.
Today, more people than ever have the tools and freedom to create their own path, but most still don’t see themselves as entrepreneurs. Maybe because the word feels too big. Maybe because no one’s ever shown them another way. That’s where I come in.
I believe creators, freelancers, and solo operators are entrepreneurs, whether they call themselves that or not.
Through essays, interviews, and the work I do with founders and creators, my goal is simple: to help more people recognize their potential and build something they’re proud of.
I want you to see yourself in the stories I share — and to walk away thinking, I can do that too.
Speaking & Workshops
I believe great businesses are built on great stories — and I love helping people find and articulate theirs.
Through talks, workshops, and intimate sessions with entrepreneurial communities, I explore how storytelling, content, and clarity can become levers for business growth. I bring over a decade of experience in journalism, brand strategy, and creator-led content, combined with real, in-the-trenches lessons from building my own ventures and supporting dozens of others.
I speak on topics such as:
  • Narrative Capital: Why your story is your most valuable business asset—and how to use it to build trust, visibility, and momentum.
  • Creator-Led Entrepreneurship: How solo builders and niche creators can turn audience insight into offers, systems, and scalable products.
Whether you're running a community, accelerator, founder retreat, or creator event, I love working with groups who are building bold, sustainable businesses on their own terms.
